Genetic engineering 101: Transforming cells

  • SoundBio Lab 1100 Northeast 47th Street #103 Seattle, WA, 98105 (map)

Bacterial transformation is an essential protocol for genetic engineering and molecular biology more broadly. Transformation is the process by which foreign DNA is taken into a cell. This simple yet powerful technique is often used to make large amounts of valuable proteins like insulin or modify the genetic makeup of a cell to carry out a new or improved function. Beginners welcome!

Tickets are on sale for $20 to celebrate the beginning of the summer months in Seattle. All SoundBio Lab members can still receive an additional 50% discount on ticketed events, and membership costs start as low as $10/month, so join today!
