Position summary

The Community Programs Coordinator will work closely with the other members of the Education & Outreach committee of SoundBio Lab to build partnerships and deliver a diverse array of hands-on life science learning experiences. 

They will provide key organizational and administrative support to our public workshops and lab skills courses. They will also lead our work to foster community partnerships with a range of stakeholders -  including local nonprofits, schools, and parent groups - designing and overseeing the delivery of custom science education experiences. Depending on prior experience and interest they could directly contribute to curriculum development and to delivery of science education, but this is not a requirement of the role.


Compensation and benefits

  • $22.50 per hour. 

  • 30 hours per month with self-directed, flexible scheduling. 

  • Can be completed largely remotely, but ability to attend events in and around the Seattle area, particularly at our U-district lab space is required.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan at regular team meetings and via email and Slack messages between meetings - 5 hrs per month

  • Manage ticketing and customer communications for workshops and courses, and other ticketed events as directed. - 10 hrs per month

  • Proactively establish, and maintain relationships with partners, coordinating this work with others in the Education & Outreach committee - 5 hrs per month  

  • Plan and oversee delivery of custom science education events for and with partners - one event per month - 10 hrs per month

  • Ensure that all event activities are well documented and that supplies remain well organized.


Supervision structure

  • Will be supervised by the Chair of Education & Outreach.

  • Will attend regular meetings of the Education & Outreach committee as a full member. 

  • Board secretary will meet at least quarterly with the communications manager as a welfare check. 

  • Communications manager will supervise the following volunteer(s):

    • Outreach director

    • Outreach event volunteers.
